It Continues…

At this point, I’m definitely going to have to go through a whole bunch of old cassette tapes. If you were not aware by now, there is a countless number of remixes featuring rap/hip-hop legends on YT and elsewhere. Some really good stuff (also some terrible stuff) . Just do a little digging/sampling.

NEW Redman ft. Method Man

….nice shout out to New Edition Red.

Old School Hip Hop/Rap

Just heard from my buddy that he picked up a loop pedal for his guitar. Which led me to think about how much technology has changed since the late 80’s – 90’s. For a few of us, on a very limited budget, recording music consisted of “cassette tracking”. This involved recording different instruments on different cassettes, overdubbing (playing recorded tape and recording live on new tape), then trying to somehow blend the parts without EQ’s and other leveling tools. Definitely not professional studio style recording. The only “leveler” between line and recording, was sometimes a cheap Realistic mixer from Radio Shack.

My recording adventures started during my rap phase. We used samples, we slowed down vinyl records to take pieces and parts from existing songs. We cut-in movie parts, added generic keyboard based record scratches. All through overdubbing and that very basic mixer.

So, going back to the rap phase, I thought I’d drop a few gems that never received a whole lot of attention. Consider this, my old school rap post.

Craziness

So you’ve lived well over 4 decades on this planet we call earth. Every corner, as of late, seems to present a curveball. Something unexpected, often times familiar, yet still unexpected. And it dawns on you.. this is (was) the year of another solar eclipse. (For those interested, I was unable to make it to Indianapolis, but heard it was impressive). Anyway, I’ve been awful quiet as of late and just wanted to leave a note that I’m still alive and A computer is still running. No alien abductions, kidnappings, and my beautiful dog hasn’t mauled me (yet, sometimes he looks like he wants to).

On to the CRAZINESS

Diet Pepsi

The best soft drink ever produced (Diet Pepsi) has a Soda Stream line AND is only $14.99 FOR A 4 PACK on Amazon.com

Wait… But there’s more

Easter

The Easter holiday was a bit of a bore, but the after Easter sale on Honey Ham at Kroger was also NUTS! We are talking 12-15 lb spiraled heaven for $8-$12.

Any ideas of what this ham can (and did) help make:

  • Ruby Tuesday Knock Off Pasta Salad
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Sauer Kraut Soup
  • Green Bean Soup
  • Pea Soup
  • Italian Sub
  • Chef Salad

Crazy! Crazy! Crazy!

And speaking of cold meat:

Never, ever go off anxiety medications cold turkey. Just NOT a good idea.
