One more game, and at least the conference has ONE team in the championship. Truly Goliath? We will find out tonight.
Would like to note that the Sling one day pass is truly that. You get a 24 hr window to watch full programming (on their orange plan). Service expires at sign up time, next day. $4.99
Will be interesting to see if anything happens in the off-season regarding NIL and transfer portal rules. There seems to be growing speculation that rules may be created, possibly including, but not limited to, player/school (team) contracts. Which would give smaller schools a better chance at retaining players.
Not going to lie, this season was tough. But, I always look forward to next year.
Pale as a ghost. Paranoid. Walking past the check in area…tip toe-ing, eyes rotating left to right. Does anyone notice? These steps are heavy, left right left right.
Earlier, you entered the door of a three story apartment complex. The first room to the left. Smoke filled room, and the lady beside the culprit (of the event), stated: “I’m looking forward to this”. She had dated the man, maybe a few months. They both wanted to pollute the mind of the innocent.
Once, twice, my eyes grew weary. Where in the hell is this going? Scatter brained.
… dot dot dot
A few pool tables lined the back. In the front, a bar area. Jukebox in between restrooms, frequented by the over served. “Come back with me”, she said. Now, this would be the second time I’ve entered this apartment complex. “Go right, instead of left.” She said. Her hair was an unusual shade of red, sandy. She handed me a magazine, which detailed a subject I was extremely unfamiliar with. And as she left the room to change, she asked me to choose.
The same apartment complex. The green, the red. Complicated. Cryptic.
He was a fan of Faith No More. And as I was entering a smoke filled room, occupied by a crowd of well “served” people, we began a conversation. Local drummer? What kind of music do you play? He was obviously just looking for some people to rehearse with, nothing serious. At the time, the area was filled with jam bands, or funk bands. Metal, alternative? Just a time limited new trend, but not music that was attracting huge crowds. Especially with the culture at the time.
I played a demo, that a few of us high school kids threw together. And his jaw dropped. Not because we were musical geniuses, but because it was exactly the music that he loved.
He was an artist, painter, mixing black and white images, sculpture like figures on canvas… he had an artistic hand for creating symbolic images on paper, ink, besides a knack for music and drum.
The first time we played at his place, I can remember climbing up three story stairs, navigating through broken steps… looking into dilapidated apartment rooms, with floors deteriorating. Living rooms, with an entire floor missing. A big hole in the middle, broken structural lumber, revealing several levels down. On the roof, he was growing a series of “herbal” plants, which would later facilitate more art, more music.
It’s a shame that us high school friends never took this further. It could have been lots of fun.
It’s storming hard today. And as the lights flicker around you, you’re reminded of a club. A strobe light. Those lights you wired in the hallway, the bedroom, the bathroom, the porch… were they wired correctly? Just west of here there was severe damage from hail and terrible storms, was/is that heading this way?
At this point, who cares? There’s basketball tonight. Granted, the season has been tough. The initial games in the tournament have been diverted to subscription only services, apps… a sad departure from years ago. Online radio stream? Let’s do it! Skyline Chili, suds, and a little luck will carry us on!
Mid February, probably way too early (Ohio). But, we’ve got a good crop growing here. Many years ago, a neighbor sold me on Rutgers tomatoes, very versatile for about every purpose. Later, I was persuaded that Beefsteak may be a good option for sandwiches, or simply slicing up with other dishes. Bulky.
So these are seeds I started planting. Will soon continue with peppers (jalapeno/banana) for salsas and more southern style dishes.
Thinking, maybe, this could be a good year for some more beer brewing.
Years ago I would search the internet for various devices to assist me OR help me create the perfect media setup. Preferably, an army of SBC’s networked through a NAS server in a central location. At that time, 2TB drives were massive, and the specialty disks you bought were expensive. Wireless internet was still a bit limited, so hardwiring with cat5 seemed the best option for networking. You would have to buy the kits, the connection testers, and of course the hardware.
Refurbished pcs were the best option in the beginning, then of course, SBCs made a lot more sense for “frontend” devices. Full Linux systems, in the beginning, evolved into much more tailored Linux systems (apps/software for popular mobile devices appeared much later). All this had me ordering many test/development hardware components (I probably had no business buying). But, did learn a lot!
The beauty of the internet, for me, has always been options. It’s what makes building PC’s so much fun. You choose the hardware, the components, eventually the price, and then finish a project (keeping purpose and functionality in mind, of course). For media projects, I’ve purchased “beta” components from S. Korea, Israel, and had fun testing those RPi’s in the very beginning. Anyone remember the OUYA?
Outside of tech related internet purchases, I’ve purchased wine (from a movie) from California. Wine from a band (from AZ). Before gardening season, hard to find seeds from all over the country.
Did you know that Amazon sells bifocals? If you need spares, you can buy a few for under $20. Silk screening kits, beer brewing kits, etc. All interests and products I’ve enjoyed using and hobbies I dabble in now and then.
Options are good. The internet has created many. No matter how young or old you are.
