Antennas.

“Cut the cord”, cable, etc has been a practice occurring for the last two decades. Some of us like to catch the occasional sporting broadcast, so that’s become more difficult. But, services like Sling are beginning to offer some nice options including one day subscriptions for $5. Much less than a price for a ticket to one game (if you’re in the vicinity).

The other thing is, OTA (antenna) channels just have much more to offer than they did years ago. Crisp, clear, digital picture through simple rabbit ears, if set up right. Right now, I’m getting two Bounce networks, and that’s worth the price for the antenna alone. The movies and shows are great! Add to that, ION network (and X-Files on occasion), and it’s a no brainer.

So don’t break out the popcorn, break out the peanuts! In the shell, the ones you have to crack to open. Like at the game. You pay peanuts, we eat peanuts, we love living off of peanuts!

Yo P-Nut, Beat that thang!

In addition, local coverage pertaining to news, weather, updates seem to be more accessible/relaiable through antenna access. (especially during outages).

Game On!

So, nutrition has been a focus lately. Lots of greens (broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, beans, etc) in the diet. But, I’m also making a conscious effort of adding fruits. Mostly berries, but also oranges (C), and bananas (potassium).

It’s game night though, and nothing beats watching college basketball while munching on a pie! So it’s time to indulge. Homemade.

The conference is very competitive this year. Many coaching and roster changes occurred in the offseason. Cheer loud. Cheer often. While up. While down. No fair weathers allowed.

Music and Sports

So, from what I hear, the Super Bowl is coming up. And, once again, there is controversy over the half time performers. Which made me think about the relationship between music and sports. Hate to say it, but during my college years “jock jams” became very popular. A carefully selected collection of tracks from various artists intended to make you move, dance, or cheer for a team (not always your team, because your team may not be playing).

The last very impressive half time show was this one imo.

The Chicago Bears had the Super Bowl Shuffle. Several sports stars have attempted to enter the music industry. And a few made some pretty damn good songs, often times teaming up with known entertainers in the industry. Deion Sanders comes to mind.

And this guy…what a song!:

“White Chocolate Was Special”

Recently heard some good news regarding ratings of the top political podcasts and growing audiences. Rumor is, Gavin Newsome is going to start his own podcast soon. One thing I’ve had difficulty doing is prying myself away from the latest news. And I say this as someone who periodically watches C-SPAN (votes, debates, etc). Yes, there are a few of us out there in the world.

It’s amazing to see my favorite childhood NBA player announcing college basketball games now. And when it comes to a break from the news, there’s nothing better than Chuck, Shaq, Kenny, and Ernie covering the NBA (although rumors are, that may end soon too).
In addition to the commentary/humorous side of the NBA, there are some excellent “legends” videos out there. (Is that word getting overused now?)

This is one I just came across, but I’ve seen quite a few.

And, hate to admit it, but I’ve been ***WATCHING MrBallen for quite a while. Great storytelling. If you are new, I would probably start here:

MrBallen

***Edited for clarification

What an AWESOME video!!

The leaves are plentiful, nearly a daily cleanup routine. College basketball season has begun, and this year looks more interesting than others (for my team). It’s going to be yet another fun/stressful season (with ups and downs) when it comes to hoops.

I found this video quite awhile ago and thought it may just put a smile on a few faces. Dogs… what would we do without them? A great story:
